Study

“1 hour per day of study will put you at the top of your field in 3 years. In 5 years you’ll be a national authority. In 7 years, you can be one of the best in the world.” – Earl Nightingale

Most of us say we want to be the best, earn the title, the money, etc.., but how many of us can say that we are willing to put in the time to earn that? Being the best means that we are willing to do what others aren’t, are you?

Grateful

“Do not spoil what you have by desiring what you have not; remember that what you now have was once among the things you only hoped for.” – Epicurus Sometimes we forget to be grateful for what we have, looking longingly for the next thing or change we want to accomplish. We need to take time each day to be grateful and appreciate the friends, family, and things that make up our life; what we already have in our lives.

Talent & Ability

“We minimize the things we can do…and we think other people can accomplish things that we cannot. I want you to understand that that is not true. You have deep reservoirs of talent and ability within you…and you can achieve all that you desire.” – Earl Nightingale.

The natural talents that we have we think are nothing and then we think “I wish I was like so & so”, and they wish they were like us – aren’t we silly?

Possibilities

“Believe there is always, always, always a way. When you have exhausted all possibilities, remember this: you haven’t.” – Thomas Edison
Borrowered this quote from JJ Flizanes newsletter as it was just what I needed today. I can never exhaust all possibilities. There are endless possibilities to get what I want in my life.

Gray Twilight

“Far better it is to dare mighty things, to win glorious triumphs, even though checkered by failure, than to take rank with those poor spirits who neither enjoy much nor suffer much, because they live in the gray twilight that knows not victory nor defeat.” – Theodore Roosevelt

The thing to remember is that you are learning, not failing. It is not enough to have a dream, you must dare to make your dreams come true. Even if it doesn’t turn out like you wanted, it is better than living in the gray twilight of not even trying.

If

“One of the greatest things in life is that no one has the authority to tell you what you want to be. You’re the one who’ll decide what you want to be.” – Jaime Escalante.

Play the “if” game, if money was no object, if family responsibilities didn’t matter, if education didn’t matter, what would I want to do and be? The most interesting thing about it is that all of the above is fear talking and we can be/do anything.

Obstacles

“Stand up to your obstacles and do something about them. You will find that they haven’t half the strength you think they have.” – Norman Vincent Peale.

This is for all of my old friends at Social Attractionaires and my new friends at Build Your Empire. When we do what we know to be right, even though it scares us to death we discover so much about ourselves. Keep staring fear in the face and doing it anyway!

Leader

“If your actions create a legacy that inspires others to dream more, learn more, do more and become more, then you are an excellent leader.” – Dolly Parton

I think that this is what we all want, to have made the difference in the life of another. We are all more capable than we think that we are, and be the leaders that we dream might be possible.

Captive

“The first step toward success is taken when you refuse to be a captive of the environment in which you first find yourself.” – Mark Caine.

When you make changes in your life, that negative voice inside says, why bother, it won’t work, and so on. Refuse to be captive to this voice and push forward with your changes. You will be successful as long as you keep moving forward.

Finding Yourself Out There

“People often say that this or that person has not yet found himself. But the self is not something one finds, it is something one creates.” – Thomas Szasz.

I think that we all know who we are as children and that our family, friends, and educators sometimes confuse us and we lose that knowing. Then as adults we realize that the path we are on, is not really our own. If we go back to those dreams we had as children, we can “find” ourselves again. The creation part comes from deciding how we express that in our adult lives.

Face Fear

“You gain strength, courage, and confidence by every experience in which you stop to look fear in the face,” said Eleanor Roosevelt. “You are able to say to yourself, ‘I lived through this horror. I can take the next one that comes along.’ You must do the thing you think you cannot do.”

Make Them Happen

“My father instilled in me that if you don’t see things happening the way you want them to, you get out there and make them happen.” – Susan Powter.
