Becoming

Using poetic license I changed this quote to apply to myself, since the only person I can change is myself: “If I accept myself as I am, I won’t grow; however, if I treat myself as the person that I am capable of becoming, I help myself become that.” – Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

High Sights

“Set your sights high, the higher the better. Expect the most wonderful things to happen, not in the future but right now. Realize that nothing is too good. Allow absolutely nothing to hamper you or hold you up in any way.” – Eileen Caddy

Reach For The Stars

“You have within you the strength, patience & passion to reach for the stars to change the world.” – Harriet Tubman

Words To Live By

Great words to live by:
“Live with intention
Walk to the egde.
Listen hard. Laugh. Play with abandon.
Practice wellness. continue to learn.
Choose with no regret.
Appreciate your friends.
Lead or follow a leader.
Do what you love.
Live as if this is all there is.”
By MARY ANNE RADMACHER

Light

“Thousands of candles can be lighted from a single candle, and the life of the candle will not be shortened” – Buddha
It really doesn’t cost us anything to smile as we pass by strangers; to help an elderly person who can’t remember where they parked the car; to put some spare change in the cup of someone who needs it more than we do. Simple things that can have a profound effect on the life of another.

Price

“Happy are those who dream dreams and are ready to pay the price to make them come true.” Leon Suenens – 1904-1996,
By making small changes, I’m getting big results. I’m making my dream come true on multiple levels. Weight loss so far over 16 lbs; I am learning some amazing things about my body; cooked up some new recipes that are really good; lifestyle changes are happening that are so easy it is amazing.

What I Might Be

“When I let go of what I am, I become what I might be.” – Lao Tzu
To me, this means not only being myself and not what others expect of me; but also letting go of the titles – daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother which are wonderful roles, but not what I might be. I am still those things, but I am much more.

Choices

“[It is time to]…take the journey of making very difficult decisions. Start removing things from your life that are not filling your cup & adding things that bring joy in to your life.” – Lisa Hammond.

I believe firmly that if you are not happy you have 3 choices: change your attitude, change the circumstance; or live with it. I will help with the first 2 choices, but I don’t want to listen to you complain about your life when you can do something about it.

Ourselves

“We did not change as we grew older, we just became more clearly ourselves.” – Lynn Hall

Miguel Ruiz says that we learn that it is safe to take off our masks and be who we truly are, instead of who we think that everyone wants us to be. What I know from experience is that it makes communication a lot easier!

Achieve

“To achieve great things, two things are needed; a plan, and not quite enough time.” Leonard Bernstein, Conductor and Composer
You know what this means? It means that we can all achieve something great today! We can all plan and we all say we don’t have enough time. Go forth and conquer!

Thinking

“Seek not to change the world, but choose to change your mind about the world. What you see reflects your thinking and your thinking but reflects your choice of what you want to see” – From A Course in Miracles
The reticular activator in action – I choose to see wonderful, caring people, who are supporting me in my life.

Patience

“Patience – the gift of being able to see past the emotion” – Rodney Williams
Strong emotions take away clear thinking. They make us panic and think that we must do something now! When you learn to scuba dive they talk to you about breathing. Because when you panic you hold your breath. If you are diving and you hold your breath, you can create an embollism that will kill you. Remembering to breathe will save your life.
When you are in a situation with strong emotions you forget to breathe. While you may not create a life and death situation from not breathing literally; your panic can. When my sister was in the hospital years ago from a car accident there was another guy there. He had skidded out of control and stopped at the edge of the cliff, teetering on the edge, but not over. He panicked and opened the door on the wrong side, and without looking stepped out into air and fell to the bottom of the ravine. The vehicle never did go over. He was paralyzed with a broken back.
We need to be in control of our emotions and the easiest way is to breathe. We may think that we don’t have the time and must make a decision now! But just breathe, take back control and see past the emotion that is threatening to over power you. Don’t step off the cliff, just breathe until the emotion is under control and then decide. Patience is control of the emotions.
