Choose Your Attitude

“We who lived in concentration camps can remember the men who walked through the huts comforting others, giving away their last piece of bread. They may have been few in number, but they offer sufficient proof that everything can be taken from a man but one thing: the last of the human freedoms – to choose one’s own attitude in any given set of circumstances.” –  Viktor Frankl
Choosing ones own attitude is so important.
I had a close friend that was laid off the beginning of this month. She made it through the merger; through numerous restructures and now when you think that your job just might finally be secure, she is laid off. 23 yrs for the same bank and now this – but I know in my heart (and hope that she does) that something great is coming her way – a door of opportunity that she never would have had if this had’t happened.
I heard yesterday that another friend is losing their home to a short sale. She is a contractor and during the past 5 years she just couldn’t stay employed consistent enough to keep everything paid. It is sad that she made it this long and is still losing the home. I know that it is hard for her, but I think that she is also glad that the struggle is ending.
I know that there are days that I get irritated with how long something takes to get done. My weight and other goals and even the car driving in front of me don’t seem to be getting accomplished fast enough. Then I think that I need to stop for a minute and appreciate what I have accomplished, that I am making progress, and just pass up that slow poke car in front of me! (why do they drive the speed limit in the fast lane?)
I know that this seems small in comparison to losing your job or your home. But we all have something each day in which our attitude shows up, not just with the big things, but also with the small things. When life is handing you a challenge in the little things, it reflects what will happen when the big things happen. In your circumstances today, how will your attitude show up?

Attitude Change

“A great attitude does much more than turn on the lights in our worlds; it seems to magically connect us to all sorts of serendipitious opportunities that were somehow absent before the change” – Earl Nightingale
I was thinking yesterday about law of attraction; about commitment; about how you could get to a goal in such a way that it forever changes your life – so that you could never go back to where you were before.
I think that it is when you “know” not just want or desire. Take my current goal of getting back to what I consider as my “normal” weight (pre 4th pregnancy). It is not because I would be healthy; or I would look better; or to be more attractive to my husband; or any of the other reasons that you would assume or tell me why I should lose weight. I have tried all of those and the weight came back.
There is a place that is stronger than motivation; and it recognizes that it is necessary to achieve my life purpose to make this change, and because of that I know in my bones that this will be permanent. This is due in part because I have uncovered the self sabotager from my childhood and she knows that she doesn’t need to protect me any longer, that it is now safe for me to be seen. When you are obese, people tend to slide their glances past you and it makes it easy to be invisible. Now that little girl from my past wants to be up on stage with me, to live out loud.
I think that when we reach beyond all the easy answers down to the core, you truly do connect magically and the world turns you on to opportunities that always existed, but you never saw before, because you were in the dark. When you reach out to the stars the rocket boosters needed to gain altitude burn away the fears, and excuses and you become lighter; free to do things you never even considered possible before.

Attitude

Your attitude is either locking the door or is acting as the key to the door of your success. It’s not what or who you are that holds you back, it’s what you think you’re not.

Power of Attitude

“When Goliath came against the Israelites, the soldiers all thought, ‘He’s so big we can never kill him.’ But David looked at the same giant and thought, ‘He’s so big, I can’t miss.’”—Ode to Joy

Sums up the power of attitude and right thinking – there isn’t any goal that we can’t achieve if we think outside the box, remain positive, and give it all we got. We can’t miss if we just take aim, and fire.

Attitude

The great Earl Nightingale said, “Our attitude toward life determines life’s attitude toward us.” This just goes back to what we all know about the law of attraction and how if we don’t like what life is giving us, then we need to look inward to our thinking and change ourselves. Back to the “be the change you want to see in the world”!

Attitude

“A positive attitude may not solve all of your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort.” – Herm Albright
