Arrogance

“Guilt is really a form of arrogance which makes life all about oneself, rather than just learning the lesson, correcting the mistake and moving on. Forgiveness puts things in perspective and brings back innocence. It returns life to ease, flow and confidence.” – Chuck Spezzano

I never thought about guilt being a form of arrogance before. I love how reading someones words causes the word to form in my mind and get redefined. It’s like I am shining a light on a part of it that I never saw before. Arrogance is in the line “it’s all about me” and reminds me of how we react when we think that if I had only done this thing different, that thing wouldn’t have happened. That is arrogance, that someone’s misfortune somehow turned on only our actions or lack thereof.

Questioning

“The important thing is not to stop questioning.” – Albert Einstein

Always test your “truth” to make sure that it shouldn’t change. Every new thing that we learn, changes what we already knew. Either completely or we just understand a new facet of the truth, we see it a little clearer. If we don’t allow for our truth or understanding of the world to change, then we can’t really accept any new learning. If we don’t accept any new learning or sharing of knowledge, then we’ve built ourselves a prison built out of bars of ignorance. You can’t live the life you are meant to live, unless you open yourself to the posibility that everyone you meet knows something that will help you on your journey. So like that four year old that asks “why” keep asking and seeking and you will find it!

Express Gratitude

“Feeling gratitude and not expressing it is like wrapping a present and not giving it.” – William Arthur Ward.

Spark

“At times our own light goes out and is rekindled by a spark from another person. Each of us has cause to think with deep gratitude of those who have lighted the flame within us.” – Albert Schweitzer

Daily Opportunity

“Nothing is so often irretrievably missed as a daily opportunity.” – Marie Von Ebner Eschenbach

We set intentions and mediatate and pray about what we want to accomplish – and the universe sets it in motion. And throughout the day opportunties come in, but we miss them because we aren’t paying attention or it doesn’t look like we think it should. Our intuition nudges us to take a detour or stop here, and we keep driving. Today start a new habit, that takes the side roads, that checks in to our inner guidance and we will all be amazed at how your life takes off!

Faith

“Fear of failure and fear of the unknown are always defeated by faith. Having faith in yourself, in the process of change, and in the new direction that change sets will reveal your own inner core of steel.” – Georgette Mosbacher

I love that the fear of failure and unknown is defeated by having faith in me! That it is really about understanding that failure is simply an opportunity for a change in process or direction. The unknown becomes known by simply moving forward.
I think about my great great grandmother setting out across the U.S. to find a better life. I am sure she was afraid for herself and her family, afraid of failing them. Afraid of the unknown – wild animals, nature, weather, outlaws – Yet they went ahead and faced their fears and the hardships of the journey. They were looking for the same basic things, a home, a better way of life, a chance to be a success. I come from a long line of strong pioneering women and I have faith that I also have that strong inner core of steel that will see me through the changes of direction to the success I am reaching for!

Time

From Simple Truths, about time:
1) Nobody can manage time. But you can manage things that take up your time.
2) Time is expensive. 80% of our day is spent on things or people that only bring us 2% of our results.
3) Time is perishable. It cannot be saved for later use.
4) Time is measurable. Everybody has the same amount. It is not how much time you have; it is how much you use.
5) Time is irreplaceable. We never make back time once it is gone.
6) You have enough time for anything in the world, if it ranks high enough among your priorities

No-Limit Thinking

Out of the box thinking means that we look at something with a beginners mind. There is a proverb that says  “In the beginner’s mind that are many possibilites. In the expert’s mind there are few.”
There is also a story about a young man in college that was late for class and so when he did the math homework he didn’t know that the extra credit problem was one that no one had been able to solve, and because he didn’t know he couldn’t, he did it.
So approach the challenges in your life with a beginners mind and write down all of the possible solutions on a piece of paper – write down everything that enters into you head, no matter how silly. This is called “no limit thinking” and it gets the creative juices flowing. It’s amazing how many good ideas come from the beginners mind – you might just solve your unsolvable problems!

Magnificent

“You are a MAGNIFICENT being
with so much to offer the world!

You have a unique treasure trove of gifts,
talents and potential inside you,
and a heart so full of love with which to bless,
heal and transform your world.

Allow yourself to experience the TRUE nature of your being!

Old wounds, traumas and beliefs can fracture your perception
of self and the world and shroud and cloud the light within,
and the vastness of who you are and who you can be.

There’s no pot of gold at the end of some rainbow far away,
but there is one INSIDE of YOU RIGHT NOW,
and it’s the LOVE that holds the keys to
all the abundance, success, happiness and joy
that you seek!”
Aine Belton

Clearly-Defined Goals

“In the absence of clearly-defined goals, we become strangely loyal to performing daily trivia until ultimately we become enslaved by it.” – Robert Heinlein

Ever look back at your day and wonder what happened and how come you didn’t get anything you wanted to do at the beginning of the day done? I think that this is the answer – make a list of clearly defined goals and I might just get some of the them done – but nothing goes on the list unless it moves one of the goals forward (not a list of laundry and dishes!!).

Resistance

They say that what you resist persists. Resistance to what is happening in our life, makes us attached to what we don’t want and it drains our energy.
I thought of a practical example being a rip tide (current). It you try to resist the current and swim back to shore the tide will fight you and it will win. However if you allow the current to take you and you swim parallel to the shore eventually you will swim right out of the current and the ocean will take you back to shore.
Resistance to what is, like a rip tide, wears you down and doesn’t change what is. Resistence is the drama, it stresses you out, so you become an emotional wreck. Resisting what is can actually escalate the pain and frustration that you are feeling.
Instead stop resisting, stop the drama, and drift with what is happening, and keep looking for the break that allows you to “make a change in yourself”. When you change your response, you stop resisting, and then what you are resisting will change. It’s making tiny small course correction changes that keep you angling towards the shore looking for the break, that allows you to break free.

Open Idea

“From my teens into adulthood, I said, “I want to be an artist.” One day I changed the sentence to, “I am an artist.” My view changed. Life began. If you have an idea, OPEN it.” – Mary Anne Radmacher

I loved this quote if you have an idea, open it. Don’t just dream about it, take action and open it. Acknowledge it. Speak about it. Take a class about it. Own it – which is what she did when she changed her sentence from I want to be, to “I am”. I am a writer. I am a coach helping women to change their lives by changing themselves. To have hope that they can release the chains of weight that they have bound around them and be safe if the world. That they can open up those dreams that they put in a box on the shelf and lived the life they thought they were not worthy of.
