Wow! Truly inspirational. Her personal mantra is “no legs, no limits”. Reading her story I realized that my excuses for not being physically fit are pretty lame. What limitations are you buying into with your life today?
She isn’t letting what some people call a disability hold her back. She is proving that owning who you are makes you hot. What is holding you back from your dreams today?
There is a personal belief in yourself and your dreams that is definitely in play here. If it is in your heart, and you really feel it, the vision pulls you. There is nothing that will stop you. I read this in someone else’s Facebook posts and really liked it “it is like the sun – you can’t block it, it will shine regardless”. Do you feel that sunshine?
A true LemonadeMaker, she is redefining the rules around beauty, and she is gorgeous. Kanya Sesser’s goal is to prove that “different” is sexy. She’s been modeling sports brands, bathing suits and personal lingerie since she was 15.
In addition to be being a successful model, she surfs, skateboards, races bikes, and is currently training for the 2018 Winter Paralympics as a mono skier.
She was adopted from an orphanage in Thailand when she was 5 years old. I want to give a shout out to the parents who adopted her. They raised her to be a strong, confident woman who is not afraid of who she is.
“I love showing people what beauty can look like,” she says. “These images show my strength.”
My heart broke for Reshma when I read her story. Imagine walking out your front door. Your older sisters estranged husband and two other men attack you. They push you down to the ground and pour sulfuric acid on your face causing extensive damage. Your sister tries to help and suffers burns on both of her arms.
When something like this happens you ask yourself why? Reshma asked what could she do to help others. What could she do to bring awareness to the public, so that sulfuric acid is no longer sold in the makeup department for the price of a lipstick.
She is known as #BraveBeauty because she is bravely bringing attention to these horrible crimes that happens in India, Bangladesh and Cambodia. She is putting a face to the crime. The crime seems to be only against women. Some are liking it to rape. In her case the family thinks it was related to how pretty she was before she was maimed. I believe that she is showing the world that the real beauty is what is inside.
They have created a petition to change this because every day a woman in India is being attacked in this way. Last year 309 acid attacks were registered in India. Activists say that hundreds go unreported. The video in this attached link was produced by the group Make Love Not Scars and the hashtag #EndAcidSale.

Today is Batman day. I grew up in the 1960’s watching this show. It was inspiring that he took the murder of his parents and became a super hero protecting the innocent and catching the bad guys. A LemonadeMakers story.
When my kids grew up they loved all of the super hero’s that would go out and catch the bad guys. My son Seth was a huge Superman fan.
We have an extremely successful movie franchise going on for the past few years with the comic book super hero’s with Captain America, Iron Man, Thor and so on.
The Stars Wars Saga brings us hero’s that bring down the villains who are the dark side of the force. My oldest son was around 2 when it first came out. He sat mesmerized by the movie and didn’t move until the movie was over. He kept saying, “good show mommy, good show daddy”
What is the attraction? Truth, justice and the American way? I think that we all want to be an everyday hero. I think that what attracted people to Batman, is he didn’t have a super power, but he used tools to take down the bad guys. It made it seem that anyone could put on a suit and make a difference. Is that the attraction, making a difference? I think so.
Great Friday advice – honor that there are people who you amaze, that get excited about you, honor that and fly with it. With that feeling you could fly to the moon and back!
We are all born to make a difference in this world – many are called but few respond. Don’t waste your purpose. Fly, fly, fly!!!
This is so true. How often have you been completely paralyzed with worrying over something – whatever it is – a deadline, what *might* happen, if someone will be upset with your decision…. so much so that you’re STUCK?
“It makes no sense to worry about things you have no control over because there’s nothing you can do about them, and why worry about things you don’t control? The activity of worrying keeps you immobilized.” — Wayne Dyer
How dare you settle for less when the world has made it so easy for you to be remarkable. – Seth Godin – Author and Speaker
Our dreams are calling us. Are we answering them or putting them to voice mail, because we don’t want to have that inner conversation with ourselves. What causes us to put things on hold? How many of your dreams do you have in voice mail waiting for a return call?
I love the lyrics from the song “We Are Family” by Sisters Sledge and when I hear it, I hear the world singing together in harmony. This is my dream, that these lyrics are being lived in people’s lives around the world.
“Living life is fun and we’ve just begun
To get our share of the world’s delights
High hopes we have for the future
And our goal’s in sight
No, we don’t get depressed
‘Cause here’s what we call our golden rule
Have faith in you and the things you do
You won’t go wrong
This is our family jewel”
We all know those special people in our lives that make the challenges that come into their lives look simple. They seem to thrive when the speed bumps in life make their appearance. I know that I come from a line of strong women. My mom weathered a lot of struggles in her life, and while she may have been wounded a few times, she was never broken. I love being a woman who is willing to not only bring my light out into the world, but bring the matches to light others flames too.
In history we have Margaret of Anjou, Joan of Arc, and Deborah in the bible. Deborah was a prophetess, a judge or ruler and a warrior. Joan of Arc and Margaret of Anjou road at the head of armies with their banners striking terror into the hearts of their enemies. We also have the mythology of Goddesses such as Athena, Diana, Hella, Isis etc…, who were powerful warriors.
There are so many song lyrics that speak about being a strong woman. From Helen Reddings song “I Am Woman”
“Oh yes, I am wise
But it’s wisdom born of pain
Yes, I’ve paid the price
But look how much I gained
If I have to, I can do anything
I am strong
(Strong)
I am invincible
(Invincible)
I am woman”
to Kelly Clarkson’s, “Stronger”
“What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger
Stand a little taller
Doesn’t mean I’m lonely when I’m alone
What doesn’t kill you makes a fighter
Footsteps even lighter
Doesn’t mean I’m over cause you’re gone”
To Katy Perry’s “Roar”
“I got the eye of the tiger, a fighter, dancing through the fire
‘Cause I am a champion and you’re gonna hear me roar
Louder, louder than a lion
‘Cause I am a champion and you’re gonna hear me roar”
So here’s to not playing small. Here is to every woman in the world being brave, roaring out into the world and being invincible Here is to not just bringing a light into the world. Here is to bringing enough matches to light our world on fire.
To it not being okay that we find drowned babies in the ocean sand because they were fleeing war and oppression in a boat that couldn’t make it to freedom. That it is not okay for another child to go to bed hungry tonight. To it not being okay that we are burying children because they had no access to medical care. Let’s all of us take a stand and shift and change our entire world into a safe place to raise happy healthy children.
When you are hanging on by the tips of your fingers, time stands still. There is this moment when even the wind holds its breath in anticipation. It is in that exact second that you reach down deeper than you even believed was possible. And what you pull out of the depths of your soul sends you straight up and over the top.
When you have reached past what you thought was possible and gone over into the impossible, that’s when you are unbeatable. Because even single cell in your body now knows that the only limits you have are what you believe is the limit.
YOU are stronger.
There are so many open doors that we pass by and don’t see – a universe full of them. As Buzz Lightyear says, “to infinity and beyond”!
Step through and experience the life you came here for.
“It’s not just that when one door closes, another door opens.
When one door closes, choirs burst into chorus, orchestras orchestrate, bugles bugle, marching bands march, dogs catch Frisbees, cats “chow, chow, chow,” pigs fly, and 10,000 new doors open.
Kind of makes you want a door to close, huh?
Whoohoooo! ”
