“One of the most beautiful gifts in the world is the gift of encouragement. When someone encourages you, that person helps you over a threshold you might otherwise never have crossed on your own.” – John O’Donohue
There are times in our lives, when we see the full vision of possibilities for our lives. We see it when we are young and full of hopes and dreams. We haven’t yet been taught the false teachings of “you aren’t enough”. Not smart, pretty, rich, skinny, etc…, enough. As adults we get glimpses of it and immediately the inner voice starts in. It starts in with all the possible obstacles or responsibilities that you have. Things which will prevent you from achieving that dream. A warning sign that says “Stop – Danger, Bridge Out”.
We all need encouragement. When someone is brave enough to state their dream aloud, whether they are 4, 40, or 80 years old, they are asking for encouragement to pursue it. It is something that we should give to them whole heartedly. We all can remember times when we told something to someone that we wanted to bring into our lives. So to not be hurt, we added a negative energy comment at the end of it, to deflate our dream before they could.
Hopefully the person that we confided in encouraged us to go for it. It is something to think about when we hear others express their dreams. Look for ways to not only encourage them, but offer to help bring that dream into reality. When they express that dream to us, it might be so big that they can’t even begin to imagine how to accomplish it. Just help them see the first step. Once they get going, they will be led to see the next step, and so on.
What I loved about this picture is that it has the appearance of angel wings. The divine being, that we all are. The fact that we all have angels around us encouraging us to pursue the dreams. Whatever you are currently dreaming, pursue it with everything you have.
Ask for divine guidance. Ask for your friends and family to help you. Don’t let the “monkey” mind discourage you from pursuing it. Don’t let obstacles stop you. Remember that they are really just illusions. There are days when you are wading through mud. Where it feels like you are being stopped at every turn. Days where you have decided that you should just give up. That thinking is all illusionary. The truth of the matter is that you need tools in your toolbox to achieve your dream.
Every one of those times you feel that the universe is stopping you, you are getting a new tool. This is something that you will need to accomplish your dreams. I am sure that like me, you can think of times in your past where this was true for you.
I encourage you to do two things. Pursue your dreams and don’t let them die. Encourage everyone you meet to do the same. I think that when we do that, the whole world will shift and change into the world that we dream about living in.
This reminds me of one of my favorite philosopher/speakers Jim Rohn. I find myself always asking in my mind, “Isn’t this interesting? I wonder what happens next?”
It allows me to not get into drama and trauma, and stay outside of the emotional vortex that is created in any disagreement.
I think that I am amending this comment to: “Isn’t that interesting? I wonder what wonderful thing is about to happen?” I love to keep it positive. It makes for a fun filled life with lots of laughter. And I have been reading a lot lately about people who live a long life have a lot of laughter in their life.
It doesn’t pay to be so serious that everything is a job and a chore to be done. Whistle while you are working works in the fairy tales. I just need to learn how to whistle – never could get the sound to come out right. And yes, I tried just putting my lips together and blow. LOL
Looking at this photo, we see the butterfly at the end clinging to the cocoon. For some time as it went through metamorphosis, this was the only home it knew. The butterfly is clinging to the baggage of its past. Instead it needs to send the bag to the baggage claim.
Like the butterfly, we need to give up the life we have known. You can’t continue to cling to what is no longer serving you, if you really want to start anew. This means leaving behind the bags of fears, illusions and false beliefs we carry from our past.
Scientist have proven that the moth and butterfly remember being a caterpillar. But what the caterpillar knew doesn’t serve the butterfly. The butterfly requires a different food source. It is built to fly. To try and carry the cocoon along, because it helped to create the butterfly would only weigh the butterfly down. It would not be able to fly as it was meant to.
The butterfly can honor the cocoon for the part it played in helping it to grow into a new creation. The butterfly can face the fear of flying, of letting go of the only thing it knows and fly off into the future it was born to live.
We are also carrying around baggage. The baggage could be mental, emotional, even physical items around our home. We all know the saying “as above, so below” or “how we do one thing, is how we do everything”. Physical clutter or baggage around our home and working environment is a clear sign that we also have either mental or emotional baggage that is cluttering up our life.
These are all things that no longer serve us. To get us on track to releasing the baggage, it is easiest to start with the physical clutter around us. Take a trash bag and a donate bag and start looking through everything you have in your environment. Nick knacks that no longer appeal to you, but you are keeping because a friend or relative gave them to you. Things that are broke or torn that you have been meaning to fix for months or years. These are all things that can go to either the trash or donate box.
Once you have cleared the physical space around you, you will feel lighter. If you have ever had long hair and got it cut short, your head feels so light, almost like it is floating. This same feeling is what you have as you clear up the physical clutter or baggage.
Once you see how freeing it is, you can move on with confidence to releasing the mental and emotional baggage. Soon you will be flying high like the butterfly who has left the baggage of the cocoon in the past where it belongs. Fly high into the new adventures that await you.
I believe that we are all born to create a new world. To leave the world better than we found it. I believe that we are all LemonadeMakers at heart. It is up to us, how we own creating the change in our world.
The things that we go through in our lives change us forever.
Erasing what we went through would mean that we also erased the lesson we learned as a result of what happened. We don’t want to lose the lesson.
We want to heal the damage, so that the damage doesn’t control our life. We release the Victim or survivor and become the Victor.
Winnie Harlow is a true LemonadeMaker. When she was little she was diagnosed with an autoimmune disorder. Her skin pigmentation started changing in patches.
Instead of listening to the bullies who teased her, she says she gets to be both black and white skinned.
She doesn’t hide who she is. She loves her skin just as it is. She is a fashion model. How fantastic is that?
This will make you stop and think… look carefully. Which perspective are you holding onto?
