1) From a phonograph with vinyl records, to CD’s to my Ipod – I can now carry around 1,000’s of songs on the cloud downloaded to my cell phone
2) From the telegraph, to party line phones, to land lines with expensive long distance rates, to a cell phone that started out in a large box, to what we now carry around in our pocket – we can call anywhere in the world for just pennies a call, and I can talk with family members all over the world at the same time and see them “live” with Skype
3) From old fashion manual typewriters, to electric typewriters, to word processors, to desk top computers, to my cell phone where I can text or email someone anywhere in the world and they get it in a minute.
4) From pony express mail, to mail delivered via planes, trains, and automobiles to email delivered to my cell phone
5) From the black and white TV to technicolor, to High Definition to 3D – I can now watch movies on demand, or TV shows when I want to (on demand) on my cell phone
6) From the camera on my phone I can record, download to YouTube and become a famous person, making my own videos.
I could go on to describe so many things that we now take for granted, that just 100 yrs ago would have been considered impossible. So when you think that you are in an impossible situation, remember the words of Muhammad Ali, impossible is just temporary.
All your life you are told the things you cannot do. All your life whey will say you’re not good enough or strong enough or talented enough. They will say you’re the wrong height or the wrong weight or the wrong type to play this or be this or achieve this. THEY WILL TELL YOU NO. A thousand times no. Until all the no’s become meaningless. All your life they will tell you no. Quite firmly and very quickly, AND YOU WILL TELL THEM YES!
It is an opportunity to think outside the box and consider the possibilities instead. Impossible is not a fact., it is only an opinion. So stop thinking that something can’t be done and instead wonder why not? The only limits to your dreams are the ones that you self impose. In fact, it is when you are in the middle of doing the impossible thing, that you suddenly find yourself.

When I was a kid they had a show on T.V. called “Mission Impossible”, which later became a movies series. Every assignment was impossible to do, and somehow they came up with a way to be successful. So many of us have lived through unimaginable tragedy’s in our life. If we can look at what we are capable of being and doing, it gives us hope. We have hope that so many of the things we see wrong in our world, can be made right. Nothing is impossible, unless we simply decide to live in the world that we have been given. If we decide that someone’s opinion is now a fact, and that we don’t have the resources or potential to change it.
What we can or cannot do, what we consider possible or impossible is rarely a function of our true capability. It is more likely a function of our beliefs about who we are.

We can choose to be affected by the world or we can choose to affect the world. This little girl is not thinking consciously about affecting someone’s life, but she is doing so nonetheless. When we are walking down life’s path it is not just coincidence, happenstance, and luck, that we experience. It is an unexplainable, magically chartered course. That is what I see when I look at this girl.
The girl in this photo isn’t seeing any limitations about what she can see, be or do. She hasn’t yet bought into the story of limitations. For her life is still simple. It can be that way for us too. We don’t have to make everything be complicated. It can be fun, instead of an adrenalin fueled drama of “guess what happened to me today?” It can instead be a joyful, “Guess what happened for me today?”
Same story, just a different way of looking at it. If we just take a moment to step back from what is happening and say silently to ourselves, “I wonder what happens next?” We give our brain a chance to go into curiosity, instead of drama, and we experience a better life.
You cannot get through a single day without having an impact on the world around you. What you do makes a difference, and you have to decide what kind of difference you want to make.
Every person who is, or ever has been a part of your life, changed your life, and you changed theirs. You could put labels on the changes, and call them positive and negative. The truth is that most are simply neither. The story that we tell ourselves about them, is what gives them the positive or negative charge in our memory.
If you’re not making someone else’s life better, then you are wasting your time. Your life will become better my making other people’s lives better.

We never know what will happen in our lives. Sometimes something horrible and unforeseen happens. We go to a peace rally and a terrorist plows his car into a crowd of people and takes the life of a beautiful young woman. Her parents and friends lose someone they loved and were so proud of. At the service, they talked about what a wonderful person she was. We can see how much she meant to so many. The circumstances of her death have in fact projected her into being a hero. Someone who stood up for others. Someone who cared about others, and had a true moral code she lived by. That is how it plays out in so many peoples lives. We stand up and talk about them after they are gone. From what I have heard and read about this young woman, she fits this quote because her death is certainly waking up humanity:
If you want to awaken all humanity, then awaken all of yourself. If you want to eliminate the suffering in the world, then eliminate all that is dark and negative in yourself. Truly, the greatest gift you have to give is that of your own self transformation.

But how much do we communicate to them while they are here? My Uncle Paul got a thank you post on his Facebook page from someone that was best friends with my cousin. It reminded me of how we all have memories of someone special in our lives that affected us in such a way, that they changed how we saw the world,. They changed who we chose to be in the world by their actions. Most of the time we never know how we affected someone, because they don’t think to express it.
Most of the time, our family finds out about it at our funeral, when they feel moved to talk about what we meant to them. This post reminded me of how important it is to say these things to people while they are still alive to hear it.
I edited it slightly, but here is the post. “Hello Paul, hope things are going well for you. I am sending you this note because I wanted you to know that I think of you often. I have never shared this with anyone before, but I have always considered you as my second father. I have tried to model myself after special traits from both my real father and from you.. One of your many special traits that I recognized early on was your very high degree of patience. One example that I think about often, is watching you make constant repairs to your hay bailer. When that damn thing broke you always were ready to fix it with huge degrees of patience, no cussing and no throwing of wrenches. Just fix it, even if the project took all day. And fix it you would. That has to be another one of your special traits, you seemed to be able to do anything and fix anything with confidence. You played a huge role in developing my love for the outdoors. So thank-you for that important role.”
He does a wonderful job of describing my uncle. He is a mechanical wizard. He is very methodical and I don’t remember him ever losing his patience with us, and we certainly did things as young kids that would have tried it.
What I really loved about this heartfelt expression is that it was just my Uncle being his authentic self that impacted this young man. It wasn’t some heroic act, or awesome talent, it was how he handled himself on a daily basis as he worked on his farm. It was how he made this young man feel.

This is a great time to reflect back on what transpired for the past few months of our life. What happened to the goals or resolutions that you set for the year? Did you achieve them? Did you give up on them? Did you rise up or fall down?
When someone tells you it can’t be done, it’s more a reflection of their limitations, not yours.
Looking back helps us to see what we want to bring into our life. I trust that I deserve unconditional love. That I can have happiness and success every day in my life. That I can trust my wings and fly. I trust that I am right were I need to be, and that this year is going to be an amazing year.
My life is constantly under construction. There’s always something to improve.
If you look at your reflection in the water, you see the outer surface of you, looking back at you. But if you put your hand through the reflection, you can see what lies beneath. The question I always ask myself is “why am I doing this to myself? How can I do better?” Through the years of yo-yo dieting I have asked myself this question many times.
Instead of wishing you were someone else, be proud of who you are. You never know who was looking at you, wishing they were you.
It is not the things that happened in my life that define me, but how I coped and adjusted through them, that made me who I am today. Somewhere along the way, weight became a protection. I release that. Somewhere along the way, my will power that had always controlled my life was crushed. I release that. I release the self destructive way of thinking.
You can be stunned, awakened, and changed by what happens to you, but choose to grow from it, and refuse to be reduced by it.
Last year about half way through I hired a health coach because I haven’t been successful in losing it and keeping the weight off. So I ask myself “why am I regaining the weight?” The past few months new things have been brought up from the depths beneath the surface and released.
Self reflection is a humbling process. It’s essential to find out why you think, say, and do certain things . . . then better yourself.

I saw a photo the other day of Carrie Fischer and Harrison Ford and it asked why it was ok for Harrison Ford to have aged, but not ok for Carrie Fischer – talking about 40 years ago when they filmed the first Star Wars movie to the new Star Wars movie. It is really sad that some of us feel the need to say negative things about how someone looks. Speaking as someone who is overweight I can testify that it doesn’t help me to lose weight. It doesn’t make me feel motivated to do anything positive. It just makes me feel depressed, because it is something that I am working on. I think Carrie Fischer is an amazing woman, who has had her struggles, just like all of us. She is courageous because she does it in the public eye, and says what she thinks. She is my hero.
When I loved myself enough, I began leaving whatever wasn’t healthy. This meant people, jobs, my own beliefs and habits – anything that kept me small. My judgment called it disloyal. Now I see it as self-loving.

When my mom kicked our 1st stepfather out, my siblings and I were devastated. We loved him at that moment more than her. He was the one that really stepped in and took care of us. Then there are the things that we don’t want to know, but have to learn. One of my best friends in high school had an alcoholic stepmother. Sometimes she would pass out in the bathroom and we would have to drag her into the bedroom and on to the bed. We should never have had to experience that, but we had to learn how to clean up after her or she would be horribly mean to my best friend.
Everyone can rise above their circumstances and achieve success if they are dedicated to and passionate about what they do.

This was a man who certainly had experience to speak from. He grew up in apartheid Africa, becoming a lawyer and speaking out against the injustices in his country. He was arrested for treason and sentenced to life in prison. He served 27 years in prison and was released in 1990. He negotiated an end to apartheid and became the first black democratically elected president of his country. He didn’t come out of prison preaching violence as a way to end the injustices of racism. He helped to create a new constitution, and emphasized reconciliation. He received a Nobel Peace Prize for his work.
There comes a time in your life, when you walk away from all the drama and people who create it. You surround yourself with people who make you laugh. Forget the bad, and focus on the good. Love the people who treat you right, pray for the ones who don’t. Life is too short to be anything but happy. Falling down is a part of life, getting back up is living.

I think that we all of us remember what God’s destiny is for us when we are little. We have these hopes and dreams of what we will be when we grow up. Then we start school and for most of us, we lose sight of the those dreams. They get buried and forgotten, blown away like dust devils across the fields, broken and unseen.
Then something happens that knocks the wind out of us. Everything that we thought was important in our life, is shown to be fools gold. We stumble and fall down. We grieve in sackcloth and ashes. And if we are really lucky, we remember what we are here to do. We grab our pillows and shake last nights dreams loose from the feathers that we bound them up in. We rise up. Those abandoned dreams are not truly cold and dead. They lay buried in the dream cavern, waiting for us to bring them back to life. To blow upon them the breath of life, igniting them once again into a steady flame.
We always have the potential to rise. Rise out of our slump. Rise out of our negative thoughts. Rise out of our comfort zone. Rise out of our complaints, GET UP AND RISE…, Rising is a choice that’s one powerful thought away.

So if you are feeling a little sore, like a semi truck ran over you, backed up, and ran over you again, remember – you are like the Phoenix and can rise up from the ashes. Remember that the spark is always buried in the ashes, and just needs you to blow on it to re-ignite the flames. The dream doesn’t really die. It doesn’t expire. Look inside and awaken. Undergo a radical transformation and like the Phoenix rise up. Listen to your heart and rise up. Rise up and follow your soul to the stars and beyond.
Remember that when life throws you to the wolves, you can come back leading the pack!
Set a goal so big, that you can’t achieve it until you grow into the person who can.
I don’t think that the importance of big dreams can be over emphasized. When we are small children we believe that we can do anything, because our moms and dads tell us so. Then as we grow older, we try things and fail. Because it doesn’t feel good to fail, we start putting limits on what we can do. So when we set goals to bring a dream into reality, we typically make it something that we feel comfortable can be achieved. Which has defeated the purpose of the dream before we even get started.
It is the possibility of having a dream come true that makes life interesting.

It is a different kind of trust than we are used to. We think that trust is something that is earned by how we behave and act. This kind of trust though is different because it is not based on past actions. It is based on us being willing to accept the risk. No guarantees. Not because it is safe or certain that this is the right way to fulfill that life purpose or destiny. It could in fact be the failure that turns us onto a completely different path towards that destiny or life purpose. The trust is that no matter what happens it will serve us.

We want out dreams to be bigger than our fears, because that is how they grow us. The biggest adventure you can take is to live the life of your dreams.
Think of the Wright Brothers and the airplane. Think of President Kennedy and the “Moon Shot”. Think of Roger Bannister who had been told that if he actually ran a four minute mile he would die in the attempt. Think of Felix Baumgartner who jumped to the earth from a helium balloon in the stratosphere. He actually broke the sound barrier with his body he was coming down so fast. All of these people did amazing things because they got out of their comfort zones. Because they were willing to bust through their fear of failure and dare greatly to accomplish a dream. A dream so powerful that no one believed it could actually be done. So how did they do it? What is their secret?
Sometimes life is about risking everything for a dream no one can see but you.
This means a couple of things have to happen. We have to put action to the things we want to accomplish, and our faith has to be stronger than the negative mind talk that is going to try and drown out those actions into not being accomplished. Dreams are life realities waiting for you to make them come true. If you don’t feel scared. If you don’t think that just may your dreams are impossible. If you don’t feel like quitting almost every day, then your dreams aren’t big enough.
Life is tough, my darling. But so are you.

Harriet Tubman certainly walked her talk. She escaped slavery going to the North. But she didn’t stay there. Instead she made 13 missions to rescue other slaves using the Underground Railroad. She rescued over 70 families. When the Civil War broke out she worked as a scout and spy. One of the raids that she was part of saved 700 slaves. She is such a great example of not letting anyone break her soul. She not only stood firm for her beliefs, but helped hundreds escape slavery.
You must find the place inside of yourself where nothing is impossible.

There are stories of how she would lead the slaves down different paths, because her dreams told her the normal way was not safe, and she was right every time. We all have had hard times come upon us. Times when we felt hopeless and helpless, that we could not take another step. Days when we felt that the whole world was against us. Time of loss, of betrayal. A death in the family, a divorce, a loss of income and status.
People are like stained glass windows. They sparkle and shine when the sun is out, but when darkness sets in, their true beauty is revealed only if there is a light from within.

It is in these times that we have the choice of our greatest pain, becoming our greatest source of strength. In that moment of surrender, we find the spark to go on.
When you look at a person, any person, remember that everyone has a story. Everyone has gone through something that changed them.
Derek Rydell tells a story of how he was diving in a coral reef in his book “Emergence”. Not paying attention, he found himself trapped in a coral bed of fire coral. Fire coral is poisonous. Try as he might, he couldn’t see the way out. He talks about the conversation in his head. First he was pleading with God to save his life. It was lets make a deal. Then his imagination was running wild on being found dead from the poison of the coral. What his friends and relatives would say at his funeral and so on. Finally, exhausted and seeing the sand sharks swimming towards him in the coral he accepted that he was going to die. At this moment of complete surrender, no longer fighting, a huge wave came through the coral and swept him up on the only piece of coral that was safe. He was able to stand and see the only pathway safely out of the coral, and return to shore.
This was his moment of waking up. This was his moment of divine consciousness coming both from within and into him. It was his “Kairos” moment. The definition of Kairos is: the perfect, delicate, crucial moment, that fleeting rightness of time and place that creates the opportunity for action, words, or movement. In that space of complete surrender, something inside of him finally released who and what he came to earth to be. He realized his purpose, his divine mission in life. When Derek stood up on the one safe place, he was standing in God’s time. He was outside of time. For that one moment he was completely in the present moment. He wasn’t seeing his death in the future. He wasn’t full of regrets for things he did or didn’t do in his past. He was in a “Kairos moment”, a time when God takes action moment. Kairos takes you through time because you are standing outside of linear time.
Now it took time to integrate everything that came to him at that moment, but it was the moment that transformed him completely. He had to seize that moment, in order to save his life. Difficult times that challenge you are not meant to destroy you. They are meant to wake you up to your life’s purpose. It is up to us to accept it or deny it. Those who accept it, find strength in overcoming the trial. They have a clear purpose. It doesn’t mean that they find an easy life. It means that they realize why they are here, and they start learning how to accomplish it.
The most important thing in your life is not what you do; it’s who you become. That’s what you will take into eternity. You are unceasing spiritual beings with an eternal destiny on God’s great universe.

Those who refuse to accept their destiny, choose to remain asleep in life. They become bitter, negative souls, hopeless against life’s challenges. Like the butterfly whose chrysalis gets opened from an outside source, their wings are weak and not capable of flight. It is the struggle to break out of the chrysalis that gives the butterfly wings the strength to take flight.
Do not be discouraged by the distance you still have to travel. Instead, appreciate how many “life miles” you have already covered. Your struggles have changed you into a stronger and better person. Don’t let anyone dissuade you from blooming into the person you are meant to be. Keep walking.
Discover the path that you are meant to walk. Celebrate the miles you have come and keep going. Believe in yourself, and see yourself as the wonderful inspiring person you really are becoming.
Needless to say, he helped her park her car and called a taxi for her. It is a funny story, but there is a life lesson for us in this story.
In 2013, in Oregon, teenage sisters Hanna (age 16) & Haylee (age 14) lifted a tractor to save their father pinned underneath.
In 2015, in St. John’s, Newfoundland, Nick Williams lifted a four-wheel-drive vehicle to save a young boy pinned beneath its tire.
In 2015, in Vienna, Virginia, Charlotte Heffelmire was able to momentarily use incredible strength to free her dad from a GMC pick-up truck.
The only thing limiting us in life is our belief that there are limits.
What do these three things have in common? They are what we call miracles, extreme feats of strength. Adrenaline on overload. What they demonstrate is that the rules, boundaries and limitations don’t exist. Why? Because we can blast through them, when we don’t stop to think about it. These examples show people that did something their mind’s would have told them was impossible. But because someone they loved was in danger, they did the impossible.
I don’t think people should have boundaries put on them, by themselves or society or another gender, because it is our birthright to experience life in whatever way we feel best suits us.

There was a commercial at Super Bowl XLIX for Always #LikeAGirl. In the video they have a woman show them what it was like to run like a girl, then a young teen, and preteen and little girl. The older girls ran in an unreal way that was weak and ineffective. The younger girls ran as fast as they could. The commercial highlighted the fact that women especially, when they hit puberty take in limitations to what they can do and be.
Our beliefs are just thoughts with emotions tied to them that we’ve taught ourselves to believe are true.

As teenagers, in order to fit in, we start holding back on what we can do. 75-80% of all negative thinking patterns come from negative beliefs that we make up about ourselves. When I started school, I was four years old, turning five in November and entered first grade, because my school didn’t have a kindergarten. So I was very small and always 1-2 years younger than everyone each grade. I was always last to be chosen for any sport activity and so I formed this belief that I wasn’t good at sports. Because of this belief I never tried to be good. To this day, I am not active in any sports. This is just a belief, and only my reality as long as I let it be.
Beliefs have the power to create ad the power to destroy. Human beings have the awesome ability to take any experience of their lives and create a meaning that disempowers them or one that can literally save their lives.

Ernestine Shepard, is a body builder. She believes that age is noting but a number. Because of that belief she is doing some amazing things. When she was 56 years old she decided to become a body builder. In 2010 she entered the Guinness Book of World Records as the oldest female body builder. Now almost 80 years old she is still going strong. She has been on Oprah and recognized throughout the world for what she is doing. She teaches an Energy Fitness Class at a gym. She has a video created by Prevention Magazine. She is an excellent example of it is never to late to take a negative belief about ourselves and break through the self imposed limitations with a new positive belief.
Don’t limit yourself. Many people limit themselves to what they think they can do. You can go as far as your mind lets you. What you believe, remember, you can achieve.

All of us continue to allow limitations to rule our lives as adults. Some limiting beliefs are conscious and some unconscious. What we need to realize is that they are all just a belief of our imagination. At one time, the saying was man will never fly. If god had meant for man to fly he would have been given wings. But people like the Wright Brothers refused to allow that limiting belief hold them back from their dream. Your beliefs either challenge you to get creative. You allow your mind to rise up and create what is need to be successful. Failures come about because instead of rising up, our mind create road blocks of all of the reasons why it can’t possibly work or why we are not enough to make it happen. This path of limited thinking leads down into failure.
You can have anything you want, if you are willing to give up the belief that you can’t have it.

People with boundary problems usually have distorted attitudes about who is responsible for failures in their life. It is because our parents made mistakes in how we were raised. It is because we have relationships we are in right now don’t allow us the freedom we need to be successful. It is because we don’t have a college degree. It is because we are poor. It is because someone is out to get us at work. The excuses list could go on and on. The truth is that they have built boundaries all around them, painted themselves into the corner. The corner is limiting, but it feels safe. They lack the courage to step over the line and actually risk pursuing something they want. They are just plain afraid of any change in their life.
Boundaries are for those who are too afraid to take the leap.

Years ago, when I was young, I had opinions on what would I do, if “such and such” happened in my life. I think that when most of us hear of an experience that someone has, we think “well if that happened to me, this is what I would do”. We sometimes don’t agree with the decision that another has made, when that same thing happened to them. The lemons that life gives us are not supposed to paralyze us. They are not supposed to make us bitter. They are not supposed to make us give up on life. They are to help us dig down deep and discover what we are capable of.
Who I am and what I am capable of doing has always managed to surprise me.

When life does hand us lemons, and we are the one trying to make lemonade out of it, many times we come to a totally different decision. There are many reasons for this. Each of life’s lemons come to us wrapped up in a different series of circumstances. You could look at multiple experiences of someone losing a loved one to violence, and you would find that each instance was handled in a different way. This is because although the label may be the same “man killed by random shooting”, the circumstances in each case tell their own unique story.
You can’t judge my choices without understanding my reasons.
In 1995 Tariq a pizza delivery man was shot and killed by a 14 year old gang member. Initially Azim, Tariq’s father could barely function. But he came to understand that the 14 yr old boy named Tony who killed his son, was also a victim. He felt called to forgive Tony, and became friends with Tony’s grandfather and guardian. He started a foundation to help kids stop killing other kids. He began talking with kids in schools about the realities of that lifestyle and the importance of making right choices.
He made lemonade out of his lemons. This foundation (http://tkf.org/) has grown into an organization of 13 full time staff members and 30 volunteers that mentor over 20,000 students each year. In the article I read, in 13 years they had touched eight million kids (the foundation is now over 20 years old). But I would bet that if you had asked him if this is the road he would take if someone killed his son, this is not the answer he would have given. His unknown road that he journeyed on revealed what kind of man he truly was. This is forgiveness in action.

No one saves us but ourselves. No one can and no one may. We ourselves must walk the path.
Azim saved himself by walking the path of true forgiveness. He wanted to not only prevent other innocents from being killed, he wanted to save those other victims – “kids” becoming killers themselves. His difficult road has lead to a beautiful destination – saving others.
What I have learned in life, is to hope that I can emulate the grace I see in others lives, as they grapple with life’s lemons. That until I find myself in that same hard place, I don’t really know what my decision will be. I do know that there is no turning back. So each decision needs to be made in prayer and meditation, with that understanding. The challenge is not just discovering who I am, but loving what I find.
Find out who you are and be that person. That’s what your soul was put on this earth to be. Find that truth, live that truth and everything else will come.

What I have learned from the lemons in my own life, is that I no longer allow someone to make me swallow up my soul, and dam up the words in my heart. That I don’t have to apologize for my imperfections, and allow the darkness of others to cover up my light. I have learned to trust my intuition and live a more courageous life. I used to work for a company that owned hospitals and healthcare centers, doing accounting. The majority partner in the business would have the same order for lunch, every single day. A turkey sandwich with potato chips. Every single day, he ate the same lunch. They ordered lunch from TGIF, so it wasn’t like he didn’t have any other options.
I think many of us live in a rut. Stuck in a groove we can’t get out of, whether it’s our job, family drama or the little frustrations of everyday life.

I always wondered if he ate the same breakfast every morning, and the same dinner every evening. He was definitely a man stuck in a rut. Rush Limbaugh says that when you are in this experience, you “are out of contact with your own genius”. We all have this happen in our lives at some point and time. The rut is a place of safety. We are in fear of the unknown, so the rut is a place of safety, because it is always the same. When we turn the page, who knows what might happen?
Sometimes following your path means: getting lost, being stuck, going backwards, forging ahead, blazing your own trail, and eventually . . . , making your way home.
So what Zella is telling us, is that being in a rut, can actually be part of the journey – the point is once we recognize that we are stuck, that we start going backwards, or forging ahead out of the rut. That we blaze our own trail off the beaten path to our destination. That we escape the rut, to get back in contact with our personal genius. This is because living our lives on purpose through our personal genius, is when we know that we are home.
Changing a behavior is like driving down an old, rutted, dirt road. In order to get out of the rut and onto a new path, you need to jerk the wheel really hard. If you don’t jerk the wheel hard enough, you’ll just bounce right back on the same, old, rutted path. So for change to happen, hold on tight, jerk that wheel as hard as you can and get ready for a happy ride. Change is just beyond, on the other side.
When we listen to our personal genius, our souls voice, it leads us to amazing places. We find ourselves living and doing things that before we would only read about. Things that we could never imagine ourselves doing. It is a conscious choice to listen to this voice that emanates from deep within.
Each morning you awaken to a new day. This day looks like every day you’ve had before. That is unless something happens to shake you out of your rut. This something can be a tragedy, a blessing, or a conscious choice. Two of these lie outside of you and one within. Which is your preference?

The choices that come from the outside are harder to deal with. The tragedy knocks us down and makes us a victim. Even the blessing, is a harder choice, because the blessing usually starts out like the tragedy. It becomes the blessing because we realize that we that we were stuck and needed our world turned upside down to shake us loose. The result of the blessing is that we took life’s lemons and made them into lemonade.
Being stuck in the past is like walking forward with your back facing front. You’ll always miss out on what’s in front of you.
How do we recognize that we are in a rut? One sign is reliving the past. It happens because we are comfortable there. We may complain about it, but we make no movement to actually change it. Another is repeating the past mistakes over and over again. Why do we repeat patterns of mistakes? Because we have convinced ourselves that this time will be different. My mom was married five times, and every single man she married, she met in the bar that she was working in. One of the things that every single man had in common? They were all alcoholics. I remember telling her as a teenager, that maybe if she met men some place besides work, it might work out better?
You must learn a new way to think, before you can master a new way to be.

This is how we get out of the rut. We don’t try to solve problems in our life with the same thinking that created them. We step up and out of the rut. And we begin blazing a new trail. So instead of stepping backward into the rut, step forward into growth. See where life is taking you. Listen to the voice of your soul, and wake up. Live your life with the intention to grow, live your life from your true reason and purpose for being here, and love your life with a passion that is on fire!
When you are inspired by some great purpose, some extraordinary project, all your thoughts break their bonds. Your mind transcends limitations, your consciousness expands in every direction, and you find yourself in a new, great and wonderful world. Dormant forces, faculties and talents become alive, and you discover yourself to be a greater person by far than you ever dreamed yourself to be.
